At about 6am Swiss time we suffered an outage because of multiple issues that formed a chain reaction.
While Heroku, the service running our application, managed to recover quite fast with only sporadic downtime windows of 15 Minutes this was not the case for RedisToGo our Session storage. The sharelephant server could therefore not connect to Redis when starting the application and was failing for multiple hours.
We are already working on a plan in order to avoid such outages in the future.
